What Hannah Did… Began The Final Countdown.

So here I am two days before the wedding… and my brain has gone to wedding mush! I have ticked off list after list, had crazy wedding dreams…to the point I’m starting to think some of the things I have dreamt are real… and now I’m chasing my tail ringing suppliers, packing up all the wedding ‘stuff’ and having those last minute beauty treatments! But mostly I am just sooooooo excited!!!!

Everything seems to be coming together now, and if I could give any tiny bit of advice to any brides to be out there, I would say do everything as soon as you possibly can…people thought we were mad buying our rings, or sorting out bridesmaid dresses or making the fruitcake 14 months before the wedding… but I’m so pleased we did! The two weeks running up to the big day are just crammed full of appointments and sorting out payments for things or having fittings…not to mention most of your guests will probably start looking at the invites… and then there are millions of questions that flood in after that! So whatever you can do to alleviate that pain… do it!

That’s where the ‘Bible’ has come in…no I haven’t suddenly found God, but I have written a wedding bible… this document is my life at the moment…even today is timetabled! It’s proven to be invaluable for making sure I have everything and trying to minimise the number of questions my suppliers have (I have sent them all a copy too). It’s also been sent to family members (who mainly think I’m crazy!)… but just so they know if they want to contact me on Thursday at 3pm for instance I will be arranging flowers (…so sorry if it takes me a while to respond to any comments… now you all know what I’m doing too!).

Anyway besides writing my bible and ticking off lists, since I last wrote it’s been a case of finishing off all those little bits and pieces that were on my to do list. One of the highlights has to be the creating the fabulous blossom trees… so there won’t be any blossom on the trees outside but instead mum and I have wired artificial blossom to huge 10ft trees for inside! I wish I could show you a picture but they’re currently in a dark garage! But I’m very excited about seeing those in situ!

The cake is also now finished! (The pic is still when it was work in progress!) It weighs nearly a stone and a half and stands nearly two ft tall!… Jon’s mum has really triumphed on this one, it looks wonderful and I know it tastes great as I managed to sneak a little off cut. It’s so lovely to have such a talented family! Talking of talent, Jon’s dad really has wowed everyone with his beautiful sweet trolley… From making the wheels, to designing it to be fully collapsible, so that it fits perfectly through standard doorways… the patience and attention to detail he has is second to none! I am trying to persuade him to rent it out post our wedding… as it’s too lovely to only ever see one wedding day!

The other major event that has happened was my hen do! Planned by my best friend & bridesmaid, Rach. So 10 lovely girlies made their way up to Manchester for a weekend of dirty Disney princesses and cocktail classes! We had an absolute ball… Below is the evidence (nothing too incriminating!) As well as a pic from my more civilised family hen do, hosted by Jons mum. It went down a treat with the older generation, not sure dirty Disney would have been their thing!

So with the big day nearly upon us, there’s nothing left to say other than a massive thank you to all of the lovely RMW readers who have commented on my posts and given me some great advice. And of course to the other lovely Real Brides who are all full of wedding words of wisdom and have put me on the straight when I have had dress wobbles, or guest list fears or even just trying to decide whether pink stripy straws would look better than grey (I had some very strange looks when I asked a similar question at work!) So come rain or shine on Saturday, I feel as prepared as I’ll ever be, and most importantly I just can’t wait to walk down the aisle and say I do to the love of my life!

Lots of Love, a very excitable bride to be! xxxx
